Here's where TV meets its end. Or, well, something like that. YouTube lets you -- and anyone else on the planet -- broadcast video clips, for free. Upload whatever you've got, whether it's a sleep-inducing home movie, a "Stupid Pet Tricks"-type clip, or just about anything else you want. There is no formula for what reaches the tipping point with YouTube; you'll never know, for sure, whether your clip will hit it big, or just remain in the insular audience of your friends and family. But that's as it should be, as YouTube serves the purposes of everyone out there -- big companies aiming to spike their market share, little nobodies out to share a bit of magic with an aunt in the hinterlands, and all varieties between the two. |
