You probably have friends who think they're budding photographers just because they snapped cute images of their kids or last night's dinner with their iPhone cameras. Dust, water, extreme heat, freezing temperatures—all the elements that make an adventure-seeker's heart pitter-patter with delight, while at the same time giving an avid photographer a pseudo heart attack. Though most cameras are clearly not capable to withstand, say, whitewater rafting down the Zambezi River, there are a select few that can give even the most experienced explorer a run for their thrill-chasing money. With features like waterproof to 20 feet and 720p HD movie capability, outdoor rugged cameras aren't your grandma's Polaroid anymore!

There’s a new website out there for photo-fanatics (or the easily distracted), that allows anyone with a camera phone and mobile internet service to anonymously upload pictures to their page. Yeah Yeah Yeah is a little bit like a slideshow meets a Facebook newsfeed, in that the site is nothing more than pictures to scroll through, and as new pictures get submitted, older ones get bumped down (and the oldest one disappears into cyberspace).

As a kid, I was obsessed with photography (still am, really), and one of my favorite things was to create photographic light sculptures by leaving the shutter open and then "painting" in the frame with a sparkler or flashlight. But, as a Photojojo tutorial shows, you don't even need an artificial light source. You can leave the shutter open and let moths—yes, moths—do the painting for you: "Long exposures make moth trails show up as squiggles of light in your night photos: like light painting with bugs!"

The idea is a simple one: Grab an old photograph of yourself, and take a new one in the exact same pose. Then submit them for online viewing by people around the world. This idea, billed as Young Me, Now Me, is an unexpectedly moving testament to the power of photography. Many of the images are genuinely emotional, as you see the similarities in people's visages, even if they're many years older, wrinkled, and no longer an innocent kid.
