5 smartphone accessories you didn’t know you needed

If you own a smartphone, you probably carry it around with you almost all the time, but as the smartphone market heats up, so does the market for peripheral devices and accessories that make it easier (and more fun) to be with your phone 24/7.

Some touchscreen phone accessories border on ridiculous (like the Aquapac, which is essentially a glorified Ziploc bag), but these accoutrements are bound to improve your smartphone experience in ways you might not have expected.

  1. Touchscreen-enabled gloves
If you’ve ever tried to use your smartphone in cold weather with gloves on, you know that it’s nearly impossible, as most gloves block the touchscreen from recognizing your touch (and fingerless gloves practically defeat the purpose of wearing gloves in the first place). Luckily, glove makers have started producing a whole new breed of full-length gloves specialized for use with touchscreens. Tavo makes a super-stylish pair, as well as Freehands, the company that normally specializes in fingerless gloves
  2. Specialized stylus
Scribbling or drawing with your fingers just isn’t the same as using a pen. And sometimes, on that tiny smartphone screen, you just need more accuracy. If you’ve got a special touchscreen stylus in your hand, this is no longer a problem. If you want to look stylish while using your stylus, check out the GTMax bundle. The three different colors make color coordination easy, and their rubber tips mean your phone’s screen won’t get scratched. As an added plus, these styli also work well when you’re wearing gloves, eliminating the need for special touchscreen-capable outerwear.
  3. A phone stand
The iLove Stand is a handy and stylish silicone stand that sticks to your phone with a suction cup and makes it easy to prop your phone up handsfree while you’re watching a movie or listening to music.
  4. A bluetooth bracelet
How many times have you missed a call simply because your phone was on silent or you were too far away to hear it ring? This bluetooth bracelet snaps onto your wrist and starts vibrating whenever you have an incoming call. It even displays caller ID information on a small LCD display.
  5. Wireless charging
It sounds like the stuff of science fiction, but it’s 100% legit — the Powermat wireless charging mat lets you charge your phone and other electronic devices simply by placing them on the mat. No more lost chargers or tangled messes of cords.
