What to say about the Museum of Modern Art? The name says it all; MOMA is one of the defining art museums in the United States, and its Robert and Joyce Menschel Photography Gallery showcases the best in contemporary photography—the 2008 exhibition had photographs by the likes of Josephine Meckseper and Mikhael Subotzky. Its website’s not too shabby, either, providing previews of exhibitions, complete with sample photographs, listings of related lectures and talks, and educational materials. Of course, for the full experience, you’ll have to pay admission, unless you’re a member; but check the website for free nights. If you’re a photographer or an art lover, and you find yourself in New York City, visiting MOMA should be high on your list.
