A verb meaning: To subscribe to someone’s Twitter updates. Use: “I’ll be forever thankful if you follow me.” Twitter is all about you. You’re an important person, so lead the way. That’s the idea behind the act of following someone on Twitter, or subscribing to their updates. When twitterers decide to follow you, they automatically receive all of your tweets in their timeline. You absolutely need people to follow you. To make this interaction possible, all they have to do is to click the “Follow” button under your avatar on your profile page, and they’re set to get your tweets. This places quite a bit of importance on you, as they see it worth their while to follow you and read what you have to say. It also puts you in a leadership position, allowing you to disemminate messages and ideas to large numbers of people at the same time. (Note: Someone who follows you is called a follower, but there isn’t a term for someone whom you follow.)
