Need an answer? You can do worse—much, much worse—than to look to Wikipedia for help. Wikipedia is a encyclopedia, yes, and one written through an ever-evolving, hyper-democratic collaboration of know-it-alls around the world. In fact, if you like, you (yes, you!) can write an encyclopedia entry at Wikipedia—some topics, likely rather obscure, have yet to be covered—or improve upon those already out there. The operation does have its detractors, who worry about the prospects for spreading misinformation through Wikipedia, but Wikipedia pretty much gets things right, and for the discerning reader, it’s a peerless resource for just about any topic you can imagine.
