Is the PC still relevant? It sure is. And with the 30th anniversary of the PC, PCMag is taking a look at the past (and into the future).

“The PC didn’t magically appear in its current wide-screen, multi-core, HD/3D viewing form overnight,” writes Joel Santo Domingo. “It took many years (30, to be exact) to evolve from the venerable IBM PC of 1981 to the high-powered tech gadgets of today.”

Of particular interest is a visual timeline of the last 30 years in PC history.
